Kate MacGarry is a contemporary art gallery located in London. The gallery represents several international artists including Goshka Macuga, Chicks on Speed, Francis Upritchard, Peter McDonald, Matt Bryans and Dr Lakra.

Kate MacGarry wanted a site that would show all artists, all past exhibited work in detail and curent exhibitions. The amount of detail relating to each work/artist and show was quite something and extremely thorough. However the site needed to be as simple as possible, almost in the background so to speak. In using the site the intention was to show all work extremely clearly without interuption but at the same time not in a completely obvious fashion, there still needed to be an element of artistry about it.

We contacted the FontShop foundry and they were kind enough to make us up a webfont version of Elementa. We've used this throughout the site. The UI programming itself is as subtle as the design. We've used the YouTube and Vimeo APIs and a little jQuery here and there but most of the clever stuff goes on behind the scenes to make the site easy for the Kate MacGarry team to keep updated.

EVIL have been an absolute pleasure to work with, they bent over backwards to accommodate our demands, always responding with patience and good humour - and it's evident in the brilliant website they've made us!

Kate MacGarry is an outstanding gallery which shows work that is both exciting and thought provoking. EVIL very much enjoyed working on this project and look forward to seeing what lies ahead especially now the gallery are moving to new premises.
