Film curator David Knight hosted an event celebrating the extraordinary influence of Jean Genet’s one and only film 'Un Chant d’Amour' at The Future Gallery in Soho, London. We worked on the branding, catalogue design and website. David was a great help and supplied us with some fantastic assets as well as being enthusiastic about our design ideas.

The overall design needed to sit comfortably with the film itself which was made in 1950, we wanted to add a modern slant but not go overboard. We used some strong fonts (Ostrich Sans) all in uppercase and bold colours. Full screen images taken from the film 'Un Chant d’Amour' and 'Querelle' were used as backgrounds for the web and for the catalogue we altered them using 'colour halftone' in order to get them ready for print resolution. We are particularly proud of the catalogue as it is more than your typical brochure and instead documents the influence of Genet on film-makers, intellectuals and poets, it's truly a fascinating read.

The website had an extremely tight turnaround and demonstrates how great Wordpress is for rapid development. We used our EVIL text-focus animation technique™ again on this job and lots of nice web fonts throughout as well as trialing out the Attachments plugin by Jonathan Christopher which has since become a standard tool in all our Wordpress builds.

I recognise in thieves, traitors and murderers, in the ruthless and the cunning, a deep beauty, a sunken beauty

- Jean Genet

All in all a great project which ran very smoothly considering the short timeframe and produced a great end result, even if we do say so ourselves!
